Solevoci is a cultural association which has been created to help the diffusion of Pop and Jazz a cappella vocal music with Festivals, Workshops and Contests. Since 2003, the Solevoci Festival (www.solevocifestival.it) has been the chance for all vocal music lovers to attend a series of concerts, workshops and competitions, which feature the human voice as the absolute protagonist. The Festival has been acknowledged by many Italian institutions, as well as some of the finest musical organizations, which have been hosting its events in their programmes: the prestigous Blue Note club in Milan (home of the Blue Note Vocal Festival), the Veneto Jazz and Lario Jazz Festival, and many more. The concerts offer audiences an approach to a cappella singing in all its facets and varieties. Italian and international groups are regularily invited, blending all the most innovative cultural and ethnic projects. Worldwide acclaimed groups such as Take 6, the Swingle Singers, the King's Singers, Real Group, Rockapella, M-Pact, the House Jacks, the Flying Pickets, Alti e Bassi, Cluster, Maybe6ix, Seiottavi have performed in the Solevoci Festival. Solevoci is also an international competition: the "Varese Città Giardino" Prize is awarded to Pop, Gospel and Jazz a cappella vocal groups. The president of the jury is choral-jazz legend Kirby Shaw. Since 2008, the festival has opened to the art of new vocal experimentation with the Beatbox Convention: a three-day event focusing on vocal percussion with workshops, concerts and conferences with the world's best artists. The Solevoci Cultural Association is very active in the musical education field: with seminars, publications, school projects, online communities. It also contributes to the advancement of the a cappella musical culture with initiatives such as: - Solevoci Community, a website devoted to the a cappella vocal music in Italy, where members can share information in real time; - Solevoci Camp, a whole week centering on the technical sides of a cappella singing, held yearly by the best international teachers belonging to famous vocal groups. - Concert-lessons in High Schools and Universities and meetings organized in cooperation with the local teachers. Solevoci's leading figure and president, Fausto Caravati, has a 10-year background on the management and artistic direction of the festival. An experienced staff follows every single phase of the organization of the musical events with passion and professionality. Ranging from logistics to communication, the staff's valuable contribution is also made possible by the collaboration of a skilled artistic committee. |
